Hotel Maria del Mar

Hotel María del Mar is a beachfront boutique hotel located along the Caribbean coast of Tulum. Conceived and developed under the direction of Roberto Carli, the project reflects the early evolution of boutique hospitality architecture in the region.
The hotel features 18 guest rooms distributed across multiple low-rise structures designed to integrate with the natural landscape of the beach zone. The architectural language combines simple geometric volumes, open terraces, and natural materials, creating spaces that maintain a strong visual and spatial connection with the sea and surrounding vegetation.
Materiality plays a central role in the design. The use of wood, stone, and textured plaster finishes responds to the coastal climate while reinforcing the relaxed and contemporary identity of the hotel.
The project also incorporates restaurant, beach club, and social areas oriented toward the ocean, allowing public spaces to extend naturally toward the beachfront environment.
Through careful planning, construction management, and material selection, Hotel María del Mar became part of the first generation of boutique hospitality developments that helped define the architectural identity of Tulum’s beach zone.
